Well care

Eye wellness exams for adults and children form a large majority of our work at Baxter Eye Care, and are such an important part of a patient’s yearly well care. Even if you do not wear glasses or contact lenses, or do not feel that your vision has changed, yearly eye wellness exams are still recommended to ensure the health of the external and internal eye tissues. Symptoms are not always present for conditions such as glaucoma, retinal holes/tears, or even ocular tumors so routine exams are vital to identifying and treating these conditions. Even babies ages 6 to 12 months can have a wellness exam, and at no charge, through a program called InfantSEE.

Contact Lenses

We carry the latest in contact lens technology and are dedicated to providing our patients with the best vision and comfort there is to offer. Thanks to many new options available, contact lenses may be an option for you- even if you need reading glasses, have astigmatism, or have had trouble with contacts in the past.

Because contact lenses are a medical device, a contact lens evaluation must be performed annually in order to provide a contact lens prescription. This is a separate service from the comprehensive exam, and includes:

  • Discussing your visual needs and the contact lens options available to meet them
  • Evaluating the health of the eye specifically as it relates to contact lens wear
  • Maintaining an extensive in-office supply of diagnostic lenses and/or ordering custom lenses to ensure optimal fit and vision
  • Providing follow up visits at no charge for 1 year to make changes to the fit or prescription based on your changing needs

Medical treatment

As optometrists, all three of our doctors are trained in the diagnosis and management of eye injuries and diseases. If you experience an acute problem such as an eye injury, infection, pain, foreign body, sudden loss of vision, flashes of light, or floaters we are committed to examining you as soon as possible to evaluate the condition.

We are also equipped to diagnose and manage chronic diseases such as dry eye, ocular allergies, keratoconus, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

In the event that you need either cataract or refractive surgery (such as LASIK or PRK), we can recommend a surgeon to fit your needs and also co-manage your post-operative care to ensure optimal healing and recovery.
